The Magic of Menstruation
Menstrual Magic 🌹
Lately my dream space has been amplified like crazy. I tend to get more vivid, more meaningful dreams around the time of my menstrual cycle.
And interestingly this has a basis in science. A few studies have shown that when a woman is menstruating her left and right brain are communicating more than they normally do-leading to an increase in our powers of self reflection and intuition.
The right side of the brain is associated with creativity, and the subconscious. It is the observer, taking in everything that happens around us-no detail is too small to escape its attention.
The left side of the brain is the seat of logical and rational thought, it takes the information gathered by the right side and decides what is useful in our daily lives, and what is not.
And the normal communication between these two hemispheres is significantly increased when we bleed. Which in my case manifests in my dream space.
Can you imagine the power this knowledge could have? If women everywhere were harnessing the gift of heightened awareness that their moon time brings out?
One of the main stumbling blocks I kept running up against in my own journey was the power of my preconceived beliefs about the world. You see, my left brain (logically and rationally) had taken my life experiences and filtered out all the other information that my right brain was trying to seed to me and made up beliefs about my place in the world.
Beliefs like-
*You are not enough*
*Your body is defective/ugly*
*You’re undeserving of love*
Now I know these beliefs are not true, but at one point in my life they were underneath everything that I did, and shaped my entire experience of the world.
So how do we get at the mechanism that chooses what our beliefs are? How do we access that right brain/left brain connectivity to reshape our inner experience?
Tap into your bodies innate wisdom. The next time you are bleeding take advantage of the increased communication between your brain hemispheres. Get out a journal and write down 3 of your most common negative thoughts that run through your mind in the course of a day. Then ask yourself “is this true?” Let yourself tap into your higher guidance here through the menstrual veil. Get out all the feelings associated with these beliefs and when you are done rip out that page and burn it 🔥.
Then replace those 3 limiting beliefs with 3 new ones that affirm the truth that you wish to bring into your life. Put these somewhere you can look at them and say them to yourself every day. Our blood time gives us the power to glimpse between the worlds, and bridge the gap, but it is daily practice that makes for progress.
