Choose a Mentor Who Has What You Want
Anyone who has ever spent time around children knows that they are little sponges. Their ability to mimic our behavior is unparalleled, and when they are very young we delight in watching them hit their various milestones-so proud at their ability to learn and grow.
With adults though, it gets trickier. Even though the basic mechanism for learning is much the same, there are more barriers in the way of us asking for help, and being willing to mimic the behaviors of others to get us where we need to go.
A lot of this is unconscious, we have already been filled up with ideas of how the world works, and would have to be willing to delete some of our old programming in order to grow further. It is very hard to fill a cup that is already full.
Starting over later in life can be difficult, it means you have to admit that the ways in which you have been choosing to engage with your reality are not working for you, or are not working as well as they could be. It takes courage, and humility to be teachable. It takes the admission that you might not know how to get the results you want.
And as the old adage goes, when the student is ready, the teacher appears. When we are willing to be teachable, we are usually presented with the right opportunities for our growth. We are provided with what we are open to.
And usually that takes the form of a teacher or mentor who has what we want, who has already walked a path that is similar to what we would like for ourselves, and can provide valuable insight into our next best steps.
And then we copy them, we imitate their actions and behaviors, and along the way something magical happens. We build a solid foundation for ourselves, that ultimately leads us to our own unique path that is meant precisely for us, and no one else.
The best teachers will always guide you back home to yourself, to your inner wisdom, to your divine essence.
