Healthy Menstruation

I remember the first time I got my period. I woke up in the middle of the night with my lower abdomen clenching and cramping and when I went to the bathroom I discovered blood. I was lucky in that I had been prepared well by the women who raised me and I knew that this was coming-what I didn’t expect was the excruciating pain. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That pain stayed with me, and every period thereafter for many years was very painful at the onset. And because it started out that way for me, and because so many of my peers experienced the same thing-or even way worse symptoms-I figured this was just the curse of being a woman. We could give life, but the cost was enduring pain each month.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Well, I’m here to tell you that it absolutely does not have to be that way.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Painful periods, heavy bleeding, clots, irregular or missing periods, pms, hormonal acne, all of these are your bodies way of grabbing your attention and asking for your help to shift your lifestyle choices. Your sacred blood time is one of the natural detoxification channels of your body and it needs your support.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🩸 If you bleed frequently (every 26 days or less) you could have an excess amount of hormones and toxins in your system and your body is trying to help move them out in the only way it knows how.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🩸 If you have a longer cycle (30 days or more) you could have an imbalance or lack of the necessary hormones and need more specific nourishment to cultivate a more regular cycle.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The key to balance is in how you nourish yourself. Whether through daily movement practices, the food you eat, or the company you keep-a proactive approach is always beneficial. And that includes getting support when you feel in over your head. The power to change lies within you.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What choices can you make to support your body in living your best life today?
